twtw #4: little inspirations

9.3.14

Lots of things trickled through this week that I found really inspiring that I thought I would share.
First up was Lily Pebbles' Ghana vlog. I love both Lily and Anna but there was something special about Lily's video and I felt that the trip really affected her deeply which was beautiful to see. The stories of the women were brilliant and the message was so important. I definitely believe in pro-activity over charity. I also really admire careers like Lily's because she created it herself, she herself worked hard to create something no one 10 years ago would have believed was a real job. To be able to then be a part of things like Sport Relief and going in full circle is just really admirable.

Of course, this is this girl's MOMENT. Lupita Nyong'o's speech was so well spoken, thoughtful, humble and humbling to hear. She really represents change in the air which is a long time coming, dammit. Jared Leto's speech was also so thoughtful and eloquent - how do these people speak so well before tens of millions of people?! Oh side note, did Lupita just kill it on the red carpet?

There is really something about people who are masters at their game. Something about those who work hard to be brilliant at what they do. That thought struck me again after seeing Shinji Ono last night (I'll put aside the want to wail over their loss!). No he's not the most amazing footballer out there, in fact Del Pierro was also on the field (but opposing team, so doesn't count - ha!) but nonetheless, the man is good. Regardless of a person's field, I always super admire anyone who has the tenacity to work hard to be as masterful as they can be at their chosen skill/art/work. While I want to pursue the creative life and being masterful at something can be rather subjective from a number of angles, it's people like these that really inspire me. I was trying hard to get a picture of Ono once I decided to whip out my phone, however it was too late so all I got was his back and well, his butt ;)
